Blue Tile Stencil by Retta

Here's a mixed media canvas I've done.
After laying designer paper, embossed papers and paint, I stamped the butterfly on tissue paper and added those.  Then I used RETTA's stencil Blue Tile and some modeling paste.

Find it HERE
All her stencils are in Outlaw Women Scrapbook Emporium store.
Check them out!!

After adding my printed verse, I outlined it with green and black gelatos.  I used some of the green over the stenciled areas with a makeup sponge.
I love how it turned out!  The size is 16x20 canvas.  Really nice!
Have a lovely Saturday!! Get your craft on!!

Ink technique on canvas

Happy Friday!!
Karen here with another amazing background!
This is a 9x14 flat canvas.
Did you know you can punch holes in it with your Croc-A-dile?
Isn't that COOL!

I painted 2 coats of white gesso on the canvas first.  Then I used the dabber distress inks.  Blue, green and polished nickel.  It's my favorite way to build the backgrounds.  I hit it on the canvas pretty hard while squeezing-you get a big SPLAT!  Then give it some spritz of water & hold the canvas up and let it spread.  I got my heat tool out and start blowing the ink around.  You may need to splat some more until you get the look you want.

I printed this gorgeous drawing (by Retta) and colored it with colored pencils-spray it with a sealer before gluing it onto your canvas.  I adhered it with mat medium.  I used gelatos in blue and black to go around the edges.

I love how this turned out.  It will make someone with a beach theme very happy!
I hope you'll go over to Robyn's shop and get all your crafting needs!!  You'll get  20%-25% off everyday!

Mixed Media

After viewing one of Dina Wakley's new CHA 2014 videos, I created this piece. It was so easy to do using an old credit card with the distress paint and spray inks to make the background. Archival black ink was used to stamp images over the background.

Supplies :
I used my newest stamp set "Face in the Crowd" cling mount set by Dina Wakley
Tim Holtz quote stamp, distress paint and distress ink applied with foam applicator tool. Heidi Swapp color shine sprays
Archival black ink

Here are some photos of the finished card. I found my Celebrate stamp tucked underneath my laptop! I used Gathered Twigs Distress Ink to stamp "Celebrate." Then used two pop dots to attach it to the card.

Alter mats to fit your frames

Happy Friday!!

One of the things I like to do for my photo's s alter the mats that fit in the frames.

They started as plain chipboard mats.
Give them a good coating of gesso and then start your magic!
Using acrylic paint, I painted a base coast of cream.  You can faintly make out the vine-right?
I heat embossed a stamped vine image next using versa mark and clear embossing powder.

Next I used a stamp with script words using black archival ink.  Once your finished, I went around the edges with vintage photo distress ink.

Viola' -you've changed a plain mat into a designer style!!

This one I painted up and down with acrylic inks until I achieved the antique/vintage look I was going for and then coated it with Ranger crackle.  Look at the cool results!

Bramble Flowers stencil by Retta

Saturday's we want to feature Stencils by Retta.

The one I've used on the white cardstock is Bramble Flowers.
Using a makeup sponge, I dabbed pistachio momento ink thru the stencil.
Repeated 3 times to cover the entire background.

The ink perfectly matched the seam binding and olive green cardstock I had in my stash.
That's always a plus!
Head on over to the store to see all of Retta's stencils.  They are reasonably priced too!

Mother Goose Mini Album

This Graphic 45 designer paper is so stinking cute!

I followed their April Challenge guidelines the best I could.
(I thought they were a little hard to follow)
I love how it turned out!  The colors is this paper line are basic and make a bold statement.
I did some fussy cutting with the adorable images found in the paper line.
The solid black photo mats really tie the album together.
Below on the pocket page I used one of Retta's stencils.  Make A Wish. I thought it added a nice touch.

You can purchase the Graphic 45 Designer Paper, Retta's Stencils, punches, die cuts, inks, adhesives-everything I've used  at Robyn's Store.

Mixed Media Doll Tag

You can create an easy tag like this when you cover a tag with designer paper and then use the opposite side on designer paper for mixed media dolls dress.
I used Prima flowers, Prima's mixed media doll by Julie Nutting, Tim Holtz stamps for quote, designer paper and paper ribbon from my stash.
Archival ink was used to stamp paper doll image on watercolor paper and stamped quote.

Check out the discount pricing for stamping supplies here: http://ididitcreations.com/club/

Supplies from my stash:
Threads used on top of tag were frayed strings from edge of fabric when I cutout my handbag.
