Mixed Media on board

This has lots of layering.  Gelatos were used to add color.  Then I used SVG files and stencils by Retta.  Printed the Serenity prayer on my computer and added to the board.  I sprayed it with varnish and sponged some Tim Holtz antique linen distress ink.

The butterfly I embossed with bridal embossing powder. Then I used distress inks and a sponge to blend it well.
Here's a close up of the stenciled edge and the butterfly.

You can get lots of the products used in the shop -

Vintage Tray

Today my video is coming to you in the evening because I had an art meeting with my Society of Decorative Painters chapter, Indy Decorative Artists. Afterward we had a painting play date with Donna Harcourt, Debbie Buchanan,Vicki Loichinger and myself at Debbies house. Look at her gorgeous home studio in the pictures. It's a beautiful and spacious place to play and create. Debbie is also a Stampin' Up representative. We had a fun time with lots of laughter! Thank you for your hospitality, Deb!

Here is what I worked on followed by some pictures of our day and the finished piece.

Giveaway Alert!!!! Fun Friday

I, it's Karen Conner here today!
Friday's are always the best day of the week. Last day to work. First start to the weekend.
What can be more fun?? Right?

I've recently lost my job and had an excessive amount of business cards laying around.
I decided to make something with them!

I glued them face to face and had enough to make little booklets.
I made a total of 7 booklets.

After they had dried, I laid them out on scratch paper and using a brayer, I laid the acrylic paint onto the surface with the brayer.  You get different shades and different amounts-that's ok.
I used a blend of light green, yellow and vanilla.

I let it dry really well.
They I stamped some dots here and there with momento ink.

They I embossed with glitter some stamped flowers.  Just stamped them randomly on one side only.
I kept one side with just the paint so I could add my scriptures to them.
I've been doing a bible study call "Living so that" by Wendy Blight.  It was terrific!  I'll be sending her one and one to P31 readers.  Thought I'd give one away here on our blog as well.  Please leave me your email in the comment section if your interested in receiving one of these handy little books.

You can purchase glue, acrylic paints, embossing pads and inks, flowers and all the supplies I've used to make my little books.  I put them together with my Cinch.  They turned out really cute!!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Mother's Day Stenciled Background Tag

This is the results of the first spray for my Mother's Day card!

Happy Mother's Day!
This is what I made for my mother this afternoon. It's going out in the mail tomorrow.
This is the first tag, the second tag went darker in color. I'll share how both were made.
Hold one of Tim's stencils up a couple of inches and then spray with lighter color on one tag or card, flipped it over while still wet and added color to another tag. Keep spraying until you cover about 50% of tag or card with lighter color, clean and dry stencil. With darker spray, following the same procedure to cover both tags.
Oh, I forgot, rotate the same stencil with every spray. You will get "a one of a kind" look from one stencil using this technique.

Supplies:
Prima 6" designer paper was used under quote, trim on top, dress, shoes and headband. Flowers were cut with white card stock and then colored with spray inks. Archival black ink was used to ink quote, dress, doll image. Embellishment were used from my stash of supplies.

Mother's Day Cards-2 different styles

Here are two very different card styles for all the differently styled Mothers in our lives!

Here is my finished card, I cut two more smaller versions of the flower. Then, I stamped with a flourish from the TH Sketch Elements set and embossed with some bright green embossing powder for a stem.

On this card, I spritzed it with Perfect Pearls Biscotti Mist for some subtle shimmer.

Heartfelt Sympathy in Asian Style

As soon as I saw this SVG file from Retta-Make it Asian came to me.

Instead of cutting it out-I used the SVG file & printed it.
I fussy cut it out and inked the edges.  I used pop dots to put the wings on to give lots of dimension.

The body of the dragonfly I added glitter glue.  Find Retta's SVG files HERE Totally shines!
The circle it's sitting on is a piece of water color paper that I had left over from another project.
The colors worked great together with the G45 paper pad.
The sentiment was printed and then punched to fit the card.
You can find the stencils, the Tim Holtz distress inks, the G45 designer paper right in Robyn's store.     Check it HERE.

Thanks for stopping by today!
Have a beautiful Friday!!
