Modeling Paste and Stencil for texture

Royal Inspirations Stencils by Retta

I want to tell you how fabulous the stencils by Retta are!
They allow you to create a thin layer of texture to your projects.
On this one, I used Spears and Arrows Stencil with raw umber mixed into stiff modeling paste.
the texture of the paint loosened the modeling paste and it easily smoothed right over the stencil.

After the paste had dried, I added clear glitter glue.

Change Is

Change is good. I've been on a kick to make paper flowers for the last two week. Today, I'll share a tag using Dyan Reaveley and Tim Holtz stamps with Dylusions spray inks.
I sprayed several colors of Dylusions inks over the tag, heat set dry and then stamped several of Dylusions images over the tag using several colors of Archival ink pads. The Dylusions stamped image by Dyan was inked with black Archival ink, cut out and colored with watercolor crayons.
The quote Change is, from Stampers Anonymous set by Tim Holtz # CMS 012 was inked on white paper, cut out and then applied to Dyan's other stamped images.
You will find supplies I used on this tag in the Emporium where prices are always reduced:

Mixed Media Canvas using stencils and modeling paste

One of my favorite techniques is using stencils and modeling paste.
Robyn carries both in the store.
This painting was done using two different stencils and liquitex modeling paste and acrylic paint.
To bring out the detail of the stencil, after I painted it, I went around each edge with watered down brown/black acrylic paint.  Smear it with your finger.  The shadow adds a lot of dimension.

My verse was printed out on my computer and added with Liquitex gel medium.  You want to also go around the edge of that with watered down paint.  Helps to make it go into the canvas.

You'll find lots of stencils-large and small in Robyns shop.  She has lots of choices on acrylic paint as well.  And I can't live without the Liquitex gesso, matte gel medium and modeling paste!!  They are a MUST have for me!!

Have a great Friday!

Royal Inspirations by Retta

Royal Inspirations Stencils
by Retta
Tag by Judy Cantrell
I used a stencil by Retta on this tag, the stencil was placed over manila paper and then sprayed with  Dylusions spray ink. It was trimmed and hole was punched in paper. With the stencil you also receive two solid hearts.

Stencils by Retta

Today is showcasing stencils by Retta.
This is her cobblestone stencil.  I wanted to show you several different mediums you can use.
This one I used 3 different Tim Holtz distress inks with a blending sponge.

Using sponge dabber vintage photo distress paint.
This is the left over distress paint.
I sprayed dylusions yellow ink thru the stencil
and then pressed the opposite side onto another piece of white cardstock.

I took my favorite style -and made a card. I just love it!!
I hope you'll go over to the store and see all the wonderful stencils she's designed!

Altered Oatmea Canister

Thank goodness it's Friday!!
It's been a long week at work.
I am so happy to get in my art studio at the end of the day!

Today I wanted to share a small oatmeal canister I altered.

I'm using 3 of Retta's stencils!!

For the base paper I used plain cream cardstock.
Starting with the cancer ribbon stencil I sponged Festive Berries distress ink.
Over top of that, I sponged purple pigment ink thru Retta's butterfly stencil.

I then heat embossed it with clear embossing powder.
The purple cardstock -I used Retta's Hope for a cure stencil in black archival ink.
To make the purple butterfly pop out more, I outlined it with Tim Holtz distress marker in vintage photo.  I smeared the edges with a aqua painter.  The butterflies were cut using Martha Stewart monarch butterfly punch.
I had so much fun making this!  I love recycling something that's to be thrown away into something useful.
All the products in red can be found in Robyn's shop -Outlaw Women Scrapbook Emporium

All the prices are 20-25% less than retail EVERY DAY!!!!!

Have a super Friday and be sure to leave a comment and let me know what you think of my canister.

Thanks!

An Idea that Works!

Something came up unexpected. I'll try to be back next week to share a new project.

What I will tell you, I was playing around with my Julie Nutting doll stamps. I came up with an idea that works for me. I used Stazon black ink on each of my doll stamps and inked an image on clear film, let it dry on clear film before putting the image away. The film can be overheated projector film or clear plastic film, clean the ink off stamps before putting them away since it is a solvent ink. Also if you are a fan of Sizzix dies, you have clear film that works perfect. I keep all the clear film from the cases, it cuts easy with scissors and has lots of uses with crafting projects.
Now, I can take the stamped clear image and place it over the patterned paper and see if I like before stamping the dolls stamped dress. (I use Archival black ink) Also by doing this I can pick a particular piece of the patterned paper for a desired look.

You can find Julie Nutting doll stamps Archival Black ink and Stazon black ink in the Emporium with a discount of 20 to 25% off on stamping and scrapbooking supplies: http://ididitcreations.com/club/

Stencil by Retta

Hi Everyone! Judy here, I used one of Retta's stencils on the tags background. Using foam applicator with walnut distress ink over stencil gives this tag an antique look. The stencil was repeated twice on this tag.

This stencil is called Arrows and Spears:
Other Royal Inspiration stencils by Retta are here:

The Julie Nutting mixed media doll stamp was inked, cut out and added to tag. Here is the link to Ruffles mixed media doll stamp:
The ink well, pen die cuts, bling and clip art are from my stash.
