June Macfarlane lives in North East England with her large family. She is a mixed media artist and crafter and also a digital designer.
I have been creating art for around 15 years now but more so since early retirement due to illness. I am never happier than when I am covered in ink, paint or glue but mostly I enjoy discovering new techniques through trial and error. You will often find me creating odd pieces with odd techniques; for example I have worked using broken eggshells, paint and crackle medium to create an unusual frame. I once also made a frame from Pasta which I hang in my hallway of my home.
I love smaller pieces of art and rarely work on large canvasses.
Blogging is another love of mine and you can tell that as I have three main blogs. Dezinaworld ( my main digital design blog) Dezinaworld collage sheets ( the sister blog where my collage sheets can be found and they are FREE )
and my personal art blog for some of my art work is called Arty Retreat.

"Waxed Mix Frame"

Supplies:
2 pieces of ATC size plain card stock
Embossing folder
Machine to emboss
Cut-out image
Text background from old book
Glue
Distress ink or other inks
Glossy Accents
Crayola or other wax crayons
Travel iron or encaustic iron
Dark pen or marker
Kitchen roll

Instructions:

1. Take two identical plain piece of card stock (I chose ATC size but other sizes will work.) One is for the base and one is for your frame.

2. Emboss one of the pieces of card stock for a nice texture. I used one of the texture fades from Sizzix.

3.When the frame is embossed, fold it exactly in half and tear a hole carefully from the center, unfold and reveal a torn edge frame. Put this aside for now.

4. Next, you will need to build the base for your ATC. Colour the book text or other background you choose using some distress inks or chalks.

5. Then take a pre-cut image (mine is from my own Desinaworld images) and check the arrangement of your background image, placing the torn frame over the top to see how it will work and for positioning.

6. Glue the background to the base and then the image to that. Do not glue the frame.

7. Now, for the messy wax part.

8. Heat up an old travel iron or encaustic iron (use an iron that can no longer be used as a home iron for clothing)
9. Take the colour or combination of colours you want for your frame from a a box of crayons.

10. Cut small pieces and put to one side ready to use.

11. Lay the frame down on a protected surface ( I used newspaper but would not recommend it as it can pick up ink from the print) Kitchen paper or scrap paper would work much better.

12. Now, lay pieces of the wax down onto your frame lightly over the top, wait a few seconds and the wax will melt and your iron will lay flat to the surface.

13. Lift the iron and wipe clean if using a different colour next. Keep on repeating the process until all gaps are filled and wax merges.

To Finish:

You need to adhere the frame to the base ATC. Wax is greasy and makes this difficult so you need a strong very sticky glue. I use glossy accents for this, it works really well and bonds the two perfectly. Once you have done this, trim anything at the edges. Then if you wish to define the torn edge in the center just take a marker pen and carefully draw around the torn edging to finish.

Ink blending tool with foam applicator

Tag or cardstock with smooth finish

Instructions:

Start with a craft sheet down on work table. Next, ink your blending tool with distress ink; start on the outside edges working in a circular motion.
Continue inking using various distress inks until you are pleased with the results.

Note: Tim’s suggestion; use inks with bold deep colors for best results.

Ink your stamp with embossing ink.
Mist your stamp with a fine mist water sprayer. This is where it might take a few tries to get just enough water on stamp.
Press stamp down on your distress inked background. Lift off immediately dry the wet image using a heat tool. As the image dries your water stamping image appears.
Finish using your choice of embellishments and stamps.

Note: I replaced water with a mixture of Perfect Pearls powder [perfect pearl] mixed with water in a Mini-Mister as my example.

Technique Tuesday ~ Dabber Resist

This is Tim’s technique from Compendium of Curiosities Dabber Resist; page 37.

This is one of those techniques you will use over and over.

Supplies:

Adirondack Snow Cap Dabber Paint (Ranger Ink)

Rubber Stamp

Ink Blending Tool

Distress Ink in assorted colors

Tag or cardstock

Ink blending tool with foam applicator

Mini Mister or fine spray bottle of water

Paper Towel or soft cloth

Instructions:

1.) Turn stamp face up onto work surface; apply Paint Dabber on stamp until the design is covered completely.

This next step is important: don’t press too hard when you stamp the image onto tag otherwise it will smear the image. Lift off. Examine to see, it should be a clear design. (At this point I tried several designs before I found one that did well. I would suggest something that has open designs. Solid designs didn’t work well for this technique. )

2.) Heat set to dry.

3.) Place your tag on craft sheet. Apply distress inks in a circular motion using your foam applicator and ink blending tool, this can be done using several colors. Continue adding ink over the tag until you are happy with the results.

Designers Note: Bold Distress Inks works well with this technique.

4.) Mist a paper towel with water. (Tim’s suggestion don’t use baby wipes.)

5.) With a gently swipe with a damp cloth remove the top layer of distress ink from the dabber paint image.

6.) Embellish your tag or card!

Glazing with Glue ~ Technique Tuesday

1. Place a piece of laminate with adhesive/sticky side up on craft sheet. Add a dollar size dollop of dimensional magic, spread around. Drip one drop of yellow re-inker in opposite corners, then one drop of plum re-inker next to the yellow but not on top of it, add one drop of blue re-inker into the dimensional magic. Next, spread with you fingers but not too much as it will mud up the colors, you want to leave light areas. My piece is 4” x 5”.

2. Sprinkle a little glitter into the wet area.

3. While wet, add a crumpled up piece of white tissue paper to cover. Let dry completely.

4. Apply gold leafing pen to cover back of tissue. When dry turn over.

5. This is when you have to decide where to stamp. Pick light areas if you have an image like I used in the example.

6. If you make a mistake you can erase it with StazOn Cleaner.

7. With glossy side up stamp image with StazOn black, let dry completely. Trim as desired. Apply gold leafing to edge, set aside to dry.

8. The torn piece behind the stamped image was made with a few colors of paint that was dry brushed with white gesso. Tear as desired for a pleasing shape.

9. Red cardstock was used with a script embossing folder.

10. Alcohol inks were used to make the background piece.

11. Adhere all pieces and apply to folded card to finish.

Instructions:

1) I used my Vagabond with Movers & Shapers bookplate die to cut a tag.

Designers Note: I use 14 pt. heavy-duty file folders with my tag die; the smooth finish works well for many of my crafting needs.

2) Place tag on craft sheet; apply Dusty Concord inks to foam applicator; in a circle motion cover the right side of tag working down and across bottom of tag. And then add Brushed Corduroy on clean foam applicator in center and then apply Tumbled Glass to the left of tag. Next, apply Broken China over the Tumbled Glass. And then, add Fired Brick over the Dusty Concord. Blending as needed to get the colors desired.

3) While still wet sprinkle a little water over the tag.

Designers Note: This is done by taking the tag to the sink. Add a very small amount of water in the palm of your hand and sprinkle the tag with a few drops.

4) Quickly heat set to dry.

5) Stamp script with Sepia ink over the inked background.

6) Stamp butterflies with black ink. Heat set to dry.

7) Stamp an addition butterfly on white card stock using sepia ink.

8) Cut out butterfly.

9) Add multi-medium matte as an adhesive to center of butterfly, adhere butterfly to tag.

10) Add Distress Stickles over butterfly. Heat set to dry.

Flower:

1) To begin: crumble one sheet of Kraft glassine papers three times.

2) Cut three flowers in one pass using Tim Holtz Alterations “Tattered Florals” die with you’re choice of a die cutting machine. I used my Vagabond die cutting tool.

3) Layer the three flower die cuts; punch a tiny hole in center. Add brad to hold the flower together.

4) Add rhinestone to center.

5) Crunch the flower to resemble a real flower.

6) Use multi-medium matte to adhere flower to tag.

7) Place brass stencil on tag, use paint brush to paint the number 5 with black dabber paint. Remove stencil and clean with water. Allow to dry.

8) Add fibers to finish this tag.

Technique Tuesday ~

Sharing a mixed media page I made this past week while playing with my inks, paints and other supplies.

To begin I cut pages 4 1/2" x 6."
Note: The pages can be made with file folders or heavy card stock.

The cover page (cereal boxes) was cut slightly larger and then covered with card stock.

I used my Bind-it-All to make this booklet.

This is one of the pages I'm working on.
The page was inked with distress ink.

Sequin ribbon was placed down over the page and then sprayed with green distress reinkers.

Set this aside to dry.

I used a variety of inks, dimensional paints and sprays on two pieces of canvas paper. A strip from each was applied as seen in photo; one on top and one on bottom. They were trimmed to fit the page. This is what it looks like now.

These are gathered found objects from my stash.

I placed the items above over the page and then sprayed it with Adirondack Cranberry color wash.

Here is the results of the spray with the found objects removed.

I haven't decided how to complete this collage. When I do, I share!

Technique Tuesday
I was down with my mother and having so much fun I forgot to upload a project. So for my Technique Tuesday this week I'm sharing a project I made using a variety of paints, three paint brushes, watercolor paper and object found in my mother's home.
I generally load up the car with stamping supplies when we travel down to see my Mother for a few days but this time I only took Valentine stamps, ink pads, paint brushes, 4 bottles of dabber paint, stickles and dimensional paint.
I showed my Mother Traci's videos from Strathmore Online Workshop, after viewing the videos we spent the next three days playing with the supplies we had on hand. It measures 8" x 10."

Craft Foil Embossing Technique with Gesso!

I wanted to play with my art supplies today and thought I would share with you a little bit of my exploration. I am facinated with metal. There are many craft foils now on the market, both Spellbinders and Ranger have nice options and they also have sticky backs for easy adhesion.

I started my creative process by embossing my foil with my Big Shot. I embossed a few, as I planned to experiment a bit with my materials.

Next, I gave each sheet a nice coat of Gesso. I love Ultrecht as it is super thick and provides great texture, but any brand will do. Be sure to let this layer dry completely. You can cheat with a heat gun, but be super careful, gesso will bubble very easly!

Now it was time to play. I added color to each of my pieces with stains, distress inks as well as alcohol inks.

Then comes the fun part sanding. This gesso was really thick, so I had to use some elbow grease to get the metal to show through again.

I was so excited about the results, that apparently I forgot to photograph the three finished piececs! Sorry folks. I did have one scrap to photograph. Even though I brought it up to daylight, it is still hard to see the wonderful texture.

The birdcage is cut from the brown gear sheet using Tim Holtz’s Birdcage die. The background is the swirls that were colored with stains. I added depth to the background sheet with a bit of rub and buff before I adhered it to a coaster. The bird was cut from the script sheet. I added a bit more ink as well as some patina to make the letters stand out more and give it a bit more contrast. Lots of little embellishments finish out this nice little altered art piece.

Here you can see the texture I created a lot better. I love how when it is sanded down, sometimes it reveals the gesso and sometimes the metal. I hope this post inspires you to get out your materials and experiment a bit.

but many silhouette type stamp will work with this technique.

Supplies:

Stamp: Pear Stamp

Acrylic mounting block

Adirondack Alcohol inks; Red Pepper, Butterscotch

Alcohol Felt Applicator

Instructions:

1. Place ¼ sheet of glossy cardstock down on craft sheet. Add two small squirts of red pepper and two small squirts of butterscotch onto felt applicator. Use applicator tool to apply the inks to the glossy cardstock as in first photo. The focus is to get light areas in center of inked piece.

Sample #1

2. Apply cling-mount pear stamp to acrylic block.

3. Ink pear stamp with StazOn black ink pad, starting on left of alcohol inked piece, stamp pear image, clean with StazOn cleaner after each inking to prevent a dark stamped image. You will get three images from one 4 1/4" x 5 /12" alcohol inked piece.

Note: This project was made with a semi-dry StazOn black ink
pad.

Sample #2

Water coloring pears:

1. Use a waterbrush with watercolor crayons to color the pear, leaf and stems. Let dry and then apply another layer to get a deeper color. Red, yellow, green and brown watercolor were used on the pears. Set aside to dry.

2. Cut out pear images, cut off one of the leaves.

Sample #3

3. To give more depth, paint cut edges with green watercolor on green leaves, red on edge of pear and brown to stems.

4. Tear page from book.

5. Tear scrap of paper that has been tinted with watercolor crayons.

6. Adhere torn paper, watercolor paper and the three pears to trimmed black cardstock.

7. Adhere to folded green cardstock to finish.

Instructions:

Note: Before beginning find center of tin, fill tin with old telephone books or anything of no value to give the tin a rigid area for drilling. Drill a 5/16” hole in center mark. Remove papers or old books before proceeding.

1. Sand design from tin. Remove any burs from the drilled hole with wire cutting tool. Apply three coats of Unbleached Titanium Gesso on the tin to cover the design. Allow to dry between coats.

2. Stamp “Heart Flowers” with timber brown across the bottom of tin and the “Butterfly Trio” twice on the top of tin. Allow to dry before proceeding.

3. Activate H20’s with a fine mist of water, use watercolor brush and H20’s to apply color to “Butterfly Trio” and “Heart Flowers”. When dry, add Sydney’s Best and Berry Sweet Glitter Glues to butterflies and Berry Sweet Glitter Glue to heart flower tops.

4. Stamp an extra butterfly with rich cocoa on white card stock, color with H20’s, let dry. Add glitter glue to butterfly and then cut out and apply to tin. Add antennas to the butterfly with black pigment ink pen.

5. Stamp and watercolor “Daisy” on white card stock. Cut-out and adhere flower to handle. Apply glitter glue to daisy.

6. Stamp “Kyra” and “Bryony” with rich cocoa ink. Let dry completely. Watercolor both images, cut away all white areas with sharp precision scissors, add adhesive and then adhere the fairies to the tin.

7. Add Big Glitz Sparkling Ice glitter glue to wings of both fairies.

8. Add Berry Sweet Swirl Glitter Glue to hearts on the “Kyra” fairy.

9. Stamp one of the “Mushrooms” on white card stock. Paint with H20’s. Cut out and then adhere next to “Bryony” fairy. Apply Berry Sweet glitter glue on mushroom.

10. Add battery to clock works; instructions will be on the package if you need how to apply the hands and second hand.

11. I enjoyed making this tin to share with you. This gift is going to my daughter. She has fairies throughout her Victorian home.

Cameo Cards

AI YI YI YI YI ! More problems with video! This one did load successfully though! But a good part of the beginning is missing as I had some trouble with my memory card malfuntioning.
This weekend I spent some time cutting out shapes with my Cricut Expression. I cut some frames and ovals from Fancy Frames Project Cartridge, and I cut some assorted cameos, a hat and stand, a high button shoe, a Tea set, and a Pram from the Heritage Cartridge.
Many of the sample configurations were lost to the malfunction, but I will add some photos so you can see.

Felonious Friday with Outlaw Gal - Altering a Journal Cover

I've been into Art Journaling for awhile now and I am totally obsessed with it. I love making a mess with paints, inks, stamping and ohh so much more messy stuff!!

Every time I get a new Journal I wait a little bit to alter the cover. I have to get a feel for the Journal. In some Journals I have just pictures, others my Whimsy gals and another could be a hodge podge. Sort of like a smash journal..

Well anywho I altered the cover of a Journal where most of my Whimsy Gals are..

To start off I put a Layer of Gesso down. To tell the truth at first I didn't and I had to undo all I had tried to do and start all over again by laying that Gesso down.. So don't do as I did and get that first layer of Gesso down..

Once that dried I took some Tissue paper that I had crumbled up and covered the Journal with it.. I used Modge Podge to cover with but you can also use Mat Medium, or Decoupage Finish. I always keep these three adhesives on hand..

Okay I'm dry now so what should I do next? It's all about the layers. Layer , Layer and more Layers

So next I took some Blue Claudine Helmuth paint and painted over the tissue paper. I used a semi dry brush to do this. It picked up all the crinkles of the Tissue Paper.. How cool was that!! Once again I wait for drying.

Now for my next layer I took my brayer and with a mixture of pink and wite paint. I brayered. A little tip about brayering is I put the paint on a piece of paper and roll my brayer into it. Now when I'm going to brayer my substrate it's semi dry and you don't get all the paint in one area and not the other. This gives it a good grungy type look..

Drying time again and next I'm going to stamp.. Get out a few focal point stamps like my flowers on the bottom and some stamps that are background type like stamps with text or music notes on them. In this case I stamped and then using acyrlic paint I colored in my flowers and did a little doodling on them..

Okay time for another layer of paint.. but I'm not going to use a paint brush. I'm going to get some bubble wrap and put some paint on that.. and do to town putting this pattern all over..

nuther little tip.. It's more pleasing to the eye to use odd numbers.. meaning I used the bubble wrap 7 times.... I don't know why it's more pleasing to the eye. It just is.. The same goes when your using bits of paper or anything your gluing down for a background. Use odd numbers..

Now once this dries I took a toilet paper roll. empty of coarse and coated the top with paint and used it as a stamp. I also took some punchinella and with some paint used that all over.. again with the odd numbers.. I stamped with ink and paint all over randomly little background stamps with letters, numbers and some little flowers..

I was finally done with my cover!! Now I had to decorate it . I chose to create this gal with no face. but you could die cut say a large butterfly, or put a picture of yourself on the cover. maybe add some lace. Just anything you want as your main subject. After I created my gal I grabbed this fabric sentiment and glued it on. The end!!

So that's my story of the Altered Journal Cover..

This morning I made sample #1 using white cardstock as the base of the tag. Compare the colors using white or blue cardstock with the same colors of pearlescent paint, gesso, inks.

It all started with double sided designer paper.

Example #1

Dry brush Liqutex iridescent pearlescent paint over the blue scrapbook paper.

White gesso over the iridescent paint. This was done with a hit and miss technique with semi-dry brush of white gesso. Let dry.

Apply Distress Gathered Twig ink over the gesso, with a foam ink blending tool, then spray with water and heat set to dry.

Apply Distress Ripe Persimmon ink over the gathered twig inked piece with a foam ink blending tool, then spray with water and heat set to dry.

Apply Distress Aged Mahogany ink with a foam ink blending tool, then spray with water and heat set to dry.

I love the results of this and would never dream it all started as blue scrapbook paper if I hadn't done it myself.

In example #3; I sprayed Perfect Pearls Mist Heirloom Gold over example #2 tag and then heat set to dry.

The possibilities are endless what you can do with your stamping supplies!

Felonious Friday with Outlaw Gal - ATC Card

Hey everyone Happy New Year.. I'm going to show you all how I created this cute ATC Card.. It's for a Winter Theme..

First I did Tim Holtz's Direct to paper on an ATC Card which is 2 1/2 by 3 1/2.. using his new color Iced Spruce . Let this dry good. Then I stamped the trees. The Trees are from the Set Mini Holidays by Tim Holtz. I stamped the bough also on the top right. I edged the card with the Iced Spruce heavily. After these dried I applied Rock Candy Stickles over the entire card. .. This takes a Long Time to dry. I die cut the little house which is the "Townscape" Die once again by Timmy..

Then I cut it to size of the ATC Card and went to town coloring with a water brush and Distress Inks of assorted colors. Once that was dried I applied the snow using the "Snow Writer".. Now I had to wait for the snow to dry .. I had a friend over while I was doing this so we talked and talked and finally everything was dry.. I assembled my card and now it sits waiting to be sent to some gal in this swap I'm in.. This is a great little ATC Card for a Winter Theme.

Make a Custom Color Pad
1. Choose a detailed rubber stamp that will look great with several colors of ink strategically placed on the design (a perfect use for Holiday Cards!).
2. Using Jet Black Archival™ Ink, stamp the felt; be sure to align the edges of your stamp mount with the edges of your cut pad. With stamp still in place, trace outline of block with a pen and cut out so the Cut n’ Dry is the same size as the stamp block that you used. Clean stamp with Cleansit Stamp Cleaner and set aside.

3. Using reinkers, color stamped image by gently squeezing ink onto the outlined part of the image. DO NOT APPLY TOO MUCH INK. Inks will blend and bleed over time but not overlap. It will still stamp fine. Note: I find it helpful to stamp out one of the images and mark the colors used for future reinking…you’ll know what is where!

4. Line up stamp to “custom” pad you just created (lining up is easy because the CnD is cut to the same size as the stamp!). Press down onto the pad to ink the stamp; a little pressure may be needed. Stamp image onto cardstock.

Note: I made my custom pad during the 12 Days of Tim's Christmas Tags.  So far I have made 3 tags and 15 greeting cards using this custom color pad.

Other Tips

• With Pigment Ink: stamp image from custom ink pad three times, NOT reinking between
stampings. Emboss with clear embossing powder. You will have three generations of the image
cool! (This works great with bold/brush stroke flower images.)

• Make a stamp with the gray side of CnD. Cut out any shape and ink. Use a heat tool on it for a
few seconds and press into a textured object; you now have your own custom textured stamp!
• Create a “puddle pad”. This is great for stamps of leaves, background or solid image stamps.
Drop dots of color onto a cut out piece of CnD, then stamp…this works best with dye inks and
with same color families. Turn the stamp a different direction each time when stamping (clean in
between stampings) to create a different look with each stamping.

Hi Everyone, I know if your like me you like to create your gifts if you can. This year I bought unfinished Cigar Boxes and Altered them. These make perfect gifts!

I Created the Pink Large Flower from Silk Petals you can buy at Michaels

First I Glimmer Misted each Petal

Then with my Tiny Attacher from Tim Holtz

I curl the petal and staple each petal to form them in the center

Then with my Hot Glue Gun one by one I glue them together to form the flower

I then take the leaf part and die this in a baggy with some reinker

attach it on the bottom of the flower.

I usually put a small piece of felt on the reverse side so that I can easily attach it to my box or card or what ever I'm attaching it to. LOL

How easy is that.

With the Cigar Box I painted the whole thing with some

Claudine Hellmuth Paint.

Once dried I went to decorating the box..

Cindy has a gorgeous ornament tutorial and video to share with us!

Cindy says these are easy to do and would make great gifts!

Bio:

Cindy says she has been a painter for over 20 years and had hesitated getting into papercrafting as I "already had enough hobbies", but my sister became a Stampin' Up demonstrator and I received lots of product by helping her out hosting a party and then letting her pay off a washer with stamps! I basically just fiddled around making a few cards now and then. Since I don't have kids I didn't think I "needed" to scrapbook. That all changed when my sisters, Mom and I created a scrapbook for my Dad's 70th birthday and I really enjoyed it. So...I made scrapbooks for my dogs! And then for trips. Now I scrap everything that is meaningful to me. A few years ago I got a Cricut to make scrapping easier and then discovered Sure Cuts A Lot. What a revelation! I could make anything I wanted from paper! Now I design SVG files that I offer for free on my blog and sell. As for painting, I still love it but I find myself papercrafting more and more. I've recently moved into multi-media artwork where I can use ALL my paint and paper supplies and am loving it!

In January 2011 I started my blog, www.creativepointe.blogspot.com, so that I could show my projects in paint, paper and other media. I also share SVG files, tips and techniques there.

I live in northern Michigan with my supportive hubby and bulldog Millie (hence the "Milliesmomma" yahoo name) and am counting the years until I can retire from my day job and hang out in my studio full time.

Directions:

1. Using Tonic (or similar) scissors, cut the metal mesh into a rectangle that fits the amount of dominoes you will be using. You will want a small edge extending from the dominoes. For my ornament, I cut the piece to be 1 3/8" x 3 1/8". You'll notice that I cut it so that the notched portion of the mesh design is all around the edges.

2. Next cut out portions to create any holes for hanging. In this ornament, I cut and left two holes at the top for the hanger and one centered hole at the bottom to be able to create a dangle.

3. Apply Glossy Accents to the sides (that will be touching other dominoes) and backs of each tile. Firmly press onto the mesh and make sure all the tiles are evenly placed. Use a craft mat or other non-stick surface when gluing the dominoes down. That way you can leave them on the mat to dry and there is no chance of bumping the tiles out of alignment. Once they are dry, if they don't seem firmly attached to the metal, you can turn them over and add more GA as needed.

4. Next choose the colors of alcohol inks you want to use. I used Meadow, Latte and Copper Mixative on my ornament. I think having three colors makes an attractive background.

5. I used a blending tool with a felt pad and added drops of all the colors then pounced the tool over the dominoes until I got a background I was happy with. Be sure to also color the sides of the dominoes. Use blending solution to soften the colors if you prefer. I like to wear disposable gloves when doing this step to keep my hands clean.

6. Next choose the image you want to put on the ornament. Remember, if you don't have small stamps you can use just a portion of a larger stamp. The secret to getting a good sharp image on dominoes is to use tissue paper. Cut a piece of white tissue paper slightly smaller than your ornament. Then using Archival Ink, stamp onto the tissue paper. Trim as close as possible to the image.

7. Turn the stamped tissue paper image over and apply Glossy Accents to the back with your finger tip. Then very carefully place the paper onto the domino and smooth out gently with more GA. (Tip: I used a Q-Tip and some blending solution to take away some of the background color where Santa's face was going to be). I stamped the sentiment and applied it to the ornament in the same way. Let the ornament dry completely.

8. Choose beads for your ornament. I used two colors: iridescent green and copper, both round and bugle beads. I also selected a light green bauble for the dangle.

9. Run a generous bead of Glossy Accents along the edges of the mesh up onto the tile.

. Press beads into the GA. Use a craft knife or tweezers to help nudge beads in place. Work in a small area at a time so that the GA doesn't dry before you place the beads. Once all the beads are placed, set on craft mat to dry.

11. Add the top sealer coat with Glossy Accents. Apply with even pressure all over the tiles. Don't worry if some of the GA runs down onto the beads. Use a pin to pop any bubbles. This needs to dry for a day. You do not want to handle the ornament if the top coat is at all tacky.

12. To make the hanger, cut a 9 inch length of copper wire. Attach to one of the hanging holes you've created and string the beads. Then attach the other end to the remaining hole by twisting the wire and clipping off the extra wire.

13. As I didn't have any head pins that had a loop to attach the dangle, I simply cut a 6 inch piece of copper wire and bent it in half. I slid the dangle into the fold and twisted. Then added the beads onto the double folded wire. I looped the top of the wire through the ornament hole, twisted and clipped.

14. I did finish the back as I wanted a copper, not silver, color on the back. I just pounced on more Copper Mixative alcohol ink. You could also use Glossy Accents to glue some of the same beads you used around the edges into the holes in the mesh. That would add extra "bling" to the back and would cover up any trace of the dominoes.

Technique Tuesday ~ Embossing Enamel

Embossing Enamel Transfer

This is a project I made using the embossing enamel transfer technique.

Supplies:

UTEE Clear embossing enamel

Ranger melting pot

Color photocopy

Texture stamp

Craft sheet

Bowl of cool water

Instructions:

1. Pour UTEE into the melting pot and melt on UTEE setting.

2. Place a color copy face up on the craft sheet.

3. Pour melted UTEE over the image; immediately press the texture stamp on top of the poured UTEE to create a pattern. Let the embossing enamel harden.

4. Once the enamel has hardened, place the image into a bowl of water. Let it sit for a few minutes.

5. Take the piece out of the water and lightly rub the paper backing until all you have left is the image embedded in the enamel.

Note: you may have to soak longer if the coating is not complete removed.

6. Apply the enamel transfer to a project of your choice using clear drying glue.

Felonious Friday with Outlaw Gal - Easy Peasy Ornament

I created this Easy Peasy Ornament.. It's created using Memory Glass and Foil Tape. It's so easy to create.

First find an image you want to use. Not to big.. Your probably going to have to resize it anyways so you don't want to start off with a big image if your taking it off of the Web.. A little tip when your resizing images so you don't lose resolution and get it looking all warped.. When you resize if you can change your Pixel Size in your Photo Editing Program ( I use Paint Shop Pro) you want to change it to 300 pixels. It's probably at 72 pixels which is fine for the web but not too good when printing and resizing.. Okay so if you can change this do it. Now print it out and cut it the exact size of the glass your using. Get two pieces of the memory glass and put your image and a back in between the two pieces of the glass. Get your foil tape and run it around the edges. The Tape is pretty easy to work with.. Now all you have to do is glue your hanger to the back( I used my glue gun) and you have yourself a nice little ornament.. How easy was that!!! LOL I love love this Memory Foil tape!!
Oh by the way it comes also in Copper and Brass..

Technique Tuesday "Joy" and "Wish" Ornaments

Instructions:

1) I used my Vagabond tool to cut the carved ornaments dies using file folder and mat board.

Designers Note: The 14 pt. file folders I use makes a very nice base for my crafting needs.

2) Place the magnetic dies “wish” and “joy” inside of the carved ornaments.

3) Run the carved ornaments dies through the Vagabond tool.

4) Remove the ornaments from die.

5) Place ornaments on craft sheet.

6) Apply distress stain to color ornaments. Heat set to dry.

7) Open Clear Rock Candy; take out a quarter size amount of clear rock candy out on craft sheet.

8) Use paint brush to apply clear rock candy over the front of both ornaments. Let dry until crackle finish.

9) Add adhesive to apply mat board cut images to crackle finished ornaments.

10) Tie a ribbon on top of ornaments to finish.

Felonious Friday with Outlaw Gal - Beautiful Poinsetta's

I love love the Poinsettia . When the Holiday's come around each year I have to buy me one. or two or three!! LOL but each year they fade and lose their color. I don't know how to take care of them. I do love that I have them at least for the Holiday Season and how they just look so beautiful sitting on my Dining Room Table ..

I created a Poinsetta that looks almost like the real thing. and this won't fade. LOL

This picture does it no justice. My camera takes lousy photos..

The fabric Ribbon is a beautiful deep red Velvet.

I started off with a Spool of this Deep Red Velvet Ribbon I bought at Michaels for 60% off!!

Wooohoo!! What a bargaininsky!!

Check out your Michaels, Hobby Lobby or Joann's for this. At this time of year they all

have it.

I used Tim Holtz's Tattered Leaves Die

for this. I cut 9 of the leafs using the Red Ribbon Material.

I cut 5 leafs of Green Card Stock

Once they were cut on four of the leaves I made them a bit smaller by rounding off the bottom

on the others I took off the stems.

Now I inked every leaf with Distress Ink "Walnut Stain" .. This is to give it some shadowing effect and aged look.

Now take a little bit (tiny amount) of Claudine Hellmuth's Multi Medium (matte)

and put it on the very botton of each red leaf where it rounds off.. Let this get to where it is almost dry.

Be careful not too much as it stains the fabric.. What you want to do is get this rounded edge stiff so you can bend the leaf in half.. So bend each one.. You don't want it to stick and be in half you just want the leaf to bend slightly when it is put together. So it's not just sitting there all

Flat and Forlorn. LOL

Get out your Mouse Pad

and

Take your Green Leaves and with your Dry Embossing Tool or even use a craft pick

run a line up the center of the leaf. I use my Mouse Pad so that I have a nice cushion

underneath to give it a slight bend and look of a real leaf..

Make sure you have taken "Walnut Stain" and distressed the edges of these leafs..

Now some fun!!

Get some Stickles both Red and Green..

and apply them onto the appropriate leafs.

Stickles take a long time to dry so start to work on another projects or better

yet go shopping at the Emporium! LOL

Okay the Stickles is finally dry..

Take a square of felt now and arrange your leafs on this.

First your green leafs now your red

as you put them on Alternate the space between the bottom leaves.

I used Hot Glue to adhere my leafs to my piece of square felt.

For the very middle I put Adhesive Pearls on ....

When it's all dry and arranged the way you want it cut the square piece of felt smaller then

the leaves so it doesn't show..

Now wasn't that quick and easy.. well not so quick waiting for the Stickles to dry. LOL

but it was Easy Peasey!!

and how beautiful it looks..

These are big poinsettas'

They would look beautiful on the top of a Christmas Present.

or make a whole on one of the leafs and run some ribbon through and use

as an Ornament..

Masking Technique by Judy Cantrell

This is a fun card to make.

Stamp the image that you will use as your main image

(mine is the woman) on your card stock.

Now stamp that same design on the masking tape from Judi-kins.

Cut out the mask a little bit smaller than the design.

Place it over the image getting it where you will see a tiny bit of the design all around.

Now complete the card. When you are through pull off the mask

but keep the mask it can be saved to use many times.

If your stamp is mounted keep the mask on the top of the mounted stamp

Otherwise keep them in a plastic bag.

This example was made using a variety of stamps from my stash.

This is my Technique Tuesday this week! This next month I'll be sharing
something I've made already. I have many projects with instructions
in my stash. I hope you will enjoy these.

I made this booklet for Rubber Road Adventures ezine. http://rubberroadadventures.ning.com/ It was a lot of fun to make. The inspiration came to me when I saw a book that spelled out words.

Each cover letter has its own pages behind it for jotting down notes or thoughts. I made this heart's gift using a variety of tools and supplies from my stash.

Finished size: 4” x 8”

Supplies:

Cuttlebug heart embossing folder

Vagabond

Base Camp Font Cartridge

Cricut Electronic cutter

Bind-it-All

Red Owires; ¾”

Wire cutter

Perfect Pearl pigment powder

Perfect Medium pad

Detail and dusting brush

Red, black and white cardstock

White copy paper

Paper flower punch

Paper trimmer

Clear Gel tacky glue

Instructions:

1) This small booklet comes together using four separate sections. Each letter has its on white pages.

2) Cut 8 precise pieces of red cardstock

a) 2 - 2 x 4,”

b) 2 – 4 x 4,”

c) 2 – 6 x 4,”

d) 2 – 8 x 4.”

3) Cut white pages slightly small for each 4 sets of red cardstock. I used 10 pages for each section.

4) Emboss front sections of each red cardstock with heart embossing folder.

Designers Note: Emboss the red front sections V and E twice.

5) Use detail brush to apply Perfect Pearl pigment powder to each embossed red cardstock. Use dusting brush to remove excess powder.

Designers Note: Perfect Pearls come in many fabulous colors; I used Perfect Pearl color for this project. Its luster was perfect for this project and doesn’t rub off because it has a binder in it.

6) Arrange red embossed front, white paper and red cardstock for each section.

7) Use Bind-it-All tool to cut holes in each section per instructions of this tool.

8) Use wire cutter to cut desired Owires. Apply per instructions of Owires to bind the booklet.

9) Cricut electronic machine and Base Camp font cartridge was used to cut the word “LOVE” 2 ½.” Adhere the L to the 2 x 4” piece, O to 4 x 4,” V to 6 x 4” and E to 8 x 4” piece. These can be straight across or graduated as I did on this project.

10) Use white cardstock to punch 3 flowers. Adhere to the letter O.

11) I hope you’ll enjoy making this project. Other words and names could be made with a little adjustment.

Felonious Friday with Outlaw Gal - Yet Another Card full of snow

I finally hit on a card I can mass produce!! woohoo!! well I've made four of them if that counts!! LOL..

This card is full of shimmer and glitter. I took a 4x 3 1/2 piece of Manilla paper and blended Distress Inks on it. The colors I used was Iced Spruce and Tattered Rose. I used these colors as I needed some light colors for my Background. When your using Perfect Pearls your better off with a light background..

I inked up my Christmas Tree Stamp with the Perfect Pearls Medium. The Medium comes with any Perfect Pearls Kit you buy. I stamped my Substrate and applied "Forever Green" Perfect Pearls. Remember when your working with Perfect Pearls you need to take your Mini Mister after you apply the pearls and give about four light spritzes. This sets the Perfect Pearls. I edged my card with Distress Ink - Gathered Twigs. That done I used my Cuttle Bug and dry embossed the edge with one of Tim Holtz's Texture Fades. This one comes with his Snowflakes Texture Fade. I then assembled my card. Once my card was assembled I applied snow.. The snow is from this fabulous product called "Snow Writer" .. It really looks like snow. I love love it!! and it's so easy to apply. It has a fine tip on it that let's you paint the snow on exactly where you want it. As soon as I applied the snow I sprinkled the image with Diamond Dust. This is another product I love. Now my card is shimmering from the Perfect Pearls and Glittering from the Diamond Glaze. How cool is that!!

It's a fast card to create but gives a fabulous look about it. All shiny and glittery!!

I think I'm done with figuring out my cards this year. I have about 13 made now. I'm going to make about 8 more using the technique above and that should do it for me. Until Next Year! LOL

Next week I promise it won't be a card I do. I'm burnt out on Cards. ROFL!!

Felonious Friday with Outlaw Gal - A Yiddle Bit More Christmas

I'm furiously making Christmas Cards but I just can't seem to get into the Assembly Line mood. Each card is different so far that I've made. At this rate by next Easter I will have my cards done.. LOL.

For this card I started out with the Sizzix Snowflakes Embossing Folder. I inked it with one of the new Tim Holtz Limited Edition Winter Distress Inks "Iced Spruce".. Ink up the side that opens up when you do this technique. I ran it through my Vagabond machine. Let dry and then I put glue on the snowflakes only and threw on a bunch of Glitter from Stamping Up called "Dazzling Diamonds". You have to let this all dry now and then edge the white cardstock with the Distress Ink "Gathered Twigs"

While this is drying I stamped my Santa. I used the Stamp Set from Tim Holtz called "Holiday Collections".. I put some black embossing powder on it once stamped and heat embossed. I edged this also with the Gathered Twigs..Then I put it through my Distrezz it all and really distressed the you know what out of it..

I wanted my card base to match my snowflake layer so I took the Iced Spruce Distress Ink and what Tim calls "Direct to Paper" I colored my white cardstock.. Once that dried I assembled my card. I added the trim and pearls..

Last I took my little Poinsetta flower and sprayed Perfect Pearls Mist "Heirloom Gold" on it so that shimmered also.. Voila one Shimmering and Glittering Christmas Card.. Maybe next year I'll start in the summer time and be ready by Christmas. LOL

Backgrounds for Technique Tuesday

This is a technique that

has

Endless possibilities with the

products available today.

As my examples I used

white card stock or glossy card stock

with

Acrylic paint, Metallic paint, or Reinkers.

I’m sure there are many products that could be used with this technique.

Instructions:

Place two small puddles of

Acrylic or Metallic paint

down on craft sheet.

Take a square piece of plastic wrap; start twisting the plastic wrap to

make a ball with a little handle.

This is your applicator tool.

Dip the plastic wrap into one of the paint puddles

and then pounce the paint over the card stock.

Leave some areas unpainted for the next color. Use clean sides of plastic wrap,

and make another ball as an applicator. Dip plastic wrap into next

paint and then color until you are pleased with the results.

Allow to dry and embellish.

These are two of my examples with StazOn black ink. The one on the left was made with glossy card stock and Distress Reinkers.

The one on the right was made with white 110# card stock and Metallic Paints.

Felonious Friday with Outlaw Gal - Tis the Season

Tis the season and I love love creating Christmas Cards.. I have 25 to do of one kind and misc. ones I am making throughout the season.. I seem to be going for that Distressed look this year.

Here is one I completed that uses a lot of Tim Holtz Products..

I started with a square well it measures 5 1/4 by 4 so it's not a square. ROFL!! I stamped snowflakes all over using two of Tim's Christmas Stamp sets. I used his Distress Embossing Ink. It's nice and wet and doesn't dry fast. Since I was going to wet emboss I needed it to stay wet until I poured the Clear Embossing Powder over it. Once done I heat set it with my heat gun. I use the Marvey Heat gun for embossing as I find the Tim Holtz doesn't blow as hot. well not for me anywho. Then I spread some of the "Iced Spruce" Distress Ink on my Mat and misted it with some "Perfect Pearl" in a solution with water. I spread my cardstock all over to get a good even coat of the ink.. I then blotted it a little bit and dried it with the Tim Holtz heat gun. I use this heat gun for drying as I like how it has a bigger spread.. One Heat gun for one thing and the other for another part of creating.. LOL

I have a resist effect on my cardstock now.. How cool is that!! I now distressed the you know what out of it using my Distress Tool and edged it with Faded Jeans Distress ink.. I stamped the Santa which is also a Tim Holtz Stamp from the "Santa's Wish" Stamp Set on a piece of Tag Cardstock. I buy this in a sheet as I love using this Substrate.. Then I edged it with "Walnut Stain" Distress Ink. I then put together my card. I most always go a quarter inch bigger with my Layers of Paper..

I wrapped the twine around the cardstock and positioned it.. This card was so fun and easy to make but has such a nice effect. It looks real distressed and old.. I love the looks of it.

The card will be going to my Swap Partner in a Yahoo Group I'm in for Card Making..

Technique Tuesday ~ Resist by Judy Cantrell

This week I’ll share a Resist Technique.

I really liked the look from the designer paper on this technique.
.

This resist was made using a product

I’ve had in my stash for many years; it’s

Walnut Ink.

Walnut ink is made from

green husk that surrounds the nut of walnuts.

It can be found in liquid form or dry crystals.that can

be diluted with water before use.

With the end results you can

antique your project

to make it look old.

This product can be used to

make stains by mixing with other inks.

To begin:

Dust your paper with a little sack of pre-embossing powder

to removed fingerprints.

Stamp your image

on smooth surface such as designer paper

or smooth cardstock with Clear Resist Ink.

Add clear embossing powder over the image, tap off extra.

Heat emboss clear embossing powder and let cool completely.

Now the fun part; spray Walnut ink over the embossed card to cover.

Tip card and let ink run around tag or card.
Let card sit in the pools of ink until almost dry.

Note: If you are using designer paper

it's normal for the paper to curl up.

Use a cloth

and gently wipe off the extra ink.

I must admit I made three of these before I realized

I was having problems with

Fingerprints!

I forgot to pull out my little baby sock I made years ago that had baby powder in it to rid my tag of unwanted fingerprints. :(

Felonious Friday with Outlaw Gal - Sticky Back Canvas Ornament

Hi everyone it's Outlaw Gal and it's another Felonious Friday!! Today I am making from Sticky Back Canvas an Ornament for my Christmas Tree. Well actually I made three. The are really old fashioned looking and very sparkly!!

I started with a piece of Sticky Back Canvas and took some Acrylic Paint in which I put two colors in my case on two of them Red and Green. On the tiny one I used Pink and Blue.. Once that was dry I Stamped with a script stamp all over.. I took a Pitt Pen and wrote all over it words like Peace, Love, Chrismas, Cheer.. Let that dry and with some Gesso I put dots of white in different sizes all over..

Okay now I wanted glittery.. I grabbed some tissue paper that was silver foiled and crumbled it up and now with some Decoupage I glued it down and then added a layer of the decoupage on top of the tissue. I heat set this.. Because the silver pattern was a bit too much I took some gesso and a credit card and smeared it on top just a little bit to give it some texture.. Stamped again some and again added some paint..

At this point after all was dried I added some sparkly Stickles all over. Just smear it on.. This will take a long time to dry. Then I folded my now Fabric Paper in half and cut Hearts out. Very Crudely.. I separated the hearts and put batting in between. Cutting the batting out into the heart. I stitched this whole thing up with the batting in it and also added the ribbon as I stitched. .. and that's my ornament!! Easy huh? I had so much fun creating these ornaments. I'm going to make more, more , more!! LOL

You could decorate these more by stitching on some words maybe.

and that's my story and I'm sticking to it!!

Technique Tuesday ~ Distress Stains by Judy Cantrell

Welcome to Technique Tuesday!

This week I'll share how easy it is to make
a one of a kind background
using Tim Holtz Distress Stain.
Distress Stains are water based dyes
for paper and porous sufaces.
They can be mist with water to lighten to give beautiful results.
They come in 37 colors.

By pressing the dabber top down onto surface, the valve opens and fluid releases. Lifting the dabber away from surface stops the fluid flow.

Instructions:

1. Choose three or more colors of distress stain.

2. Press the dabber top down onto craft sheet the valve opens and the fluid

releases. You will need three or four colors in a row but don't let colors

mix yet.

3. Drag your tag through the inks. Lift up. If you added enough color one pass
will cover the tag. Heat set each time you apply the colors of distress stains
or wipe craft sheet clean and start over with new stains.
4. When you are happy with the results. Heat set to dry and stamp

over the distress stains.

14pt filer folder (used with tag die)

I used dusty concord, fire brick and a little broken china distress stains on the tag and then inked and stamped the papillon background with Archival Black ink. Below is my finished tag using Tim Holtz and Wendy Vecchi stamps. A small drip of fire brick distress stain was used to color flower and lip. I used a foam applicator to apply Antique Linen ink over the woman image.

Felonious Friday with Outlaw Gal - Shabby Chic Key

Wow It's another Felonious Friday and today I wanted to show everyone an Altered Key. Get ready for a new addiction!! Here is my old Postal Box Key that I altered. How fun was this to do!!

First thing I did was with a Paint Dabber I covered the whole key

(I used Mountain Rose and a Pink Dabber to cover the key with.)

Dried it with My Heat Tool

Be very careful it get's very very hot!!

I know I burned myself a couple of times. LOL

Once it was dry I took some

Tim Holtz Embossing Ink

and wet just a few areas of the Key

I poured some Embossing Powder over it

In this case it was the

Dried Marigold Distress Embossing Powder

Heat Set this.

It takes a while so don't worry it's not your eyes.. LOL

I thought it was mine. ROFL!!

Once it was cooled

remember this is hot hot hot!!

I went over it lightly with some

Walnut Stain Distress Ink

Next using Archival Jet Black Ink

I stamped my Script Stamp

Heat Set it

and I'm done.

One Shabby Chic Key

I tried to make a nice bow with some ribbon..

No go!! Just a knot will do. Duh! LOL

It's now ready for my wall, a scrapbook Layout

or I can even use it in my Art Journal...

Technique Tuesday ~ Oil Pastel Crayons by Judy Cantrell

Technique Tuesday

This week I’ll share two techniques using oil pastels

Supplies:

Artists Oil Pastel Crayons

Light Color Card stock

Gesso

Sandpaper

Water

Foam Brush

Instructions:

Use a combination of two or more oil pastel crayons; apply these pastels to cover in a desired pattern over the light card stock.
You will want this application rather thick.
Use a foam brush to apply gesso over the oil pastel background.
If your gesso is too thick, you can wet the foam brush with a little bit of water.
Allow the gesso to dry thoroughly.
Use a piece of medium grade sandpaper to lightly sand off some of the gesso.
Note: You can sand in one direction and then another if desired.
Add finishing touch to your project.

Adirondack Pearl Dabber Paint

Tim Holtz Cling Stamps

Archival Black Ink

I came up with this technique using oil pastels back in April. I shared it on OWSE group and then a project over on my blog for Grungy Monday. The instructions are the same as the first technique with the except using Pearl Dabber paint, Archival Ink and I didn't sand this technique.

Felonious Friday with Outlaw Gal - Perfect Distress

Hey it's Friday again and it's another Felonious Friday. Today I have the Perfect Distress Technique for you .. By that I mean using Perfect Pearls and Distress Inks.

First I took some Distress Ink and applied some to my Craft Mat. Then a spritz or two of water and I took my tag and wiped it across the ink. I dried it some and applied some more. This is so I get a pattern going on the tag. I wanted a blotchy look. I dried the tag. You have to because next I was going to use some Perfect Pearls and I only wanted the area I stamp in to be wet. I stamped my Snowman and leafy branches with Distress Ink and then right away applied the perfect pearls over it. When you buy the kits of Perfect Pearls they come with the brushes you need. I took the smaller brush to apply the perfect pearls and the larger one to wipe off the area around.. Now the important part is to spritz with water to set the perfect pearls.. Don't forget this step.

I then ran my tag through my Vagabond with a Texture Fade full of Snowflakes..

I edged my tag with Walnut Stain Distress Inks

A lot of Distress Inks were used in this project for sure for sure!!

I stamped my sentiment with Distress Ink again and used the Perfect Pearls not forgetting to spritz with water. I edged the sentiment with Walnut Stain also.

I'm using this tag to go on my Christmas Tree so I applied some trim and on the top made a hanger with the trim and some on the bottom

. Voila once again I have a finished tag with the Perfect Distress Technique!!

My Camera takes horrible pictures so you can't see it shimmering with the perfect pearls

but it tis, it tis!! LOL

Make a Ribbon Flower

Make a Ribbon Flower

Supplies:

Ribbon

Dye-based paint

Scissors

Ruler

Brads

Glue

Bling

Die cut or flower punch

Rubber Stamps

Archival Black Ink

[Check OWSE for supplies]

Instructions:

Cut six pieces of ribbon 5 ½” long. (14cm)

Place the strips in a box lined with newspaper.

Spray with a dye based paint.

Add another layer of paint; this can be a coordinating color.

Once dry repeat the back side of ribbon.

After the second spray has dried stamp a pattern on the top side of ribbon using an archival ink.

Stack three strips in a six piece pie shape.

Starting at the bottom strip fold each piece to the center, secure with adhesive or glue dot. This is the first part of the flower.

Take the second three strips, fold as the first flower.

10.Stack the two flowers together by staggering the petals.
Punch a hole using a punch or Crop-A-Dile. Secure with a brad.

11. Use a circle flower punch with an old dictionary or stamp
an image on flower circle using archival black ink.

12. Apply the circle punched flower to the center of flower.

13. As a final step:
apply a glue dot to center and then apply bling or stone to center.

Now lets see your flower used on a project!

Felonious Friday with Outlaw Gal - Resist Kissing

Like my Title "Resist Kissing"? No I don't resist Kissing.. LOL

That's the two techniques I did on this ATC Card...

LOL Fooled you!!

To Start out with I grabbed my White Embossing Powder

Versa Mark Ink

and

Two Different colors of Glimmer Mist

in this Case

Marshmallow

and

Alaskan Salmon

I stamped the

Stamp from Tim Holtz

Papillion

This stamp is fabulous for all sorts of background techniques

poured the embossing powder and heat set.

Once it cooled I sprayed with the Glimmer Mists

then wiped it off with a paper towel

and there is my first Resist..

wow do I love how this came out..

I inked the Edges with

Walnut Stain Distress Ink

Then I took another Timmy Stamp set out

His

Falling Leaves

This was the first time using the set.. it's a really cool set for this season..

being Fall.. duh and duh again!! LOL

Here is where I kissed.. ROFL!!

I inked the stamp with VersaMark

then using his Reflections Set

I inked the numbers stamp with

Distress Ink Vintage Photo

and stamped onto the Papillion Stamp

Get it??? I kissed the first stamp...

Didn't even dance on the tables to kiss it!!

LMAO!!

The Reflections Stamp Set is great for the Kissing Technique

as all the numbers and letters are backwards..

You have got to check out this stamp set!

okay so I kissed the stamp and then I stamped onto

Glossy Cardstock

You need to really dry this good with your heat tool

once dried I took

some

Peeled Paint Distress Ink

and dabbed it all over

then wiped it off with a paper towel

and cut out the leaf..

Inked the edges once again with

Walnut Stain

I adhered it to my card with foam dots

added some bling because I have to add bling now.

tis the season!! LOL

Welcome to Technique Tuesday! by Judy Cantrell

My mother suggested that I share a technique seen

many years ago on Aleene’s Craft Show.

Burnt Brown Bag

When Aleene shared this technique my mother and I made wall

decorations with these leaves.

Instructions:

Begin by die cutting the leaves (Tatterered leaves)

using Kraft paper or brown grocery bags.

You will need a set of two leaves for each leaf.

Use a credit card to apply Aleene’s glue on inside of one leaf, cut a piece of 22

gauge floral wire 3 3/4" long and place down center of leaf.
Leave a small portion of the wire out from stem to use as a holder.
Adhere the two leaves together. Let dry.

Apply (Aleene’s) glue with your finger over the front and back of leaf with a
generous but even amount of glue with no paper showing.
While the glue is still wet, light a white emergency candle with no scent
in a well ventilated area if you are doing a lot of these at one time.
My suggestion: use exhaust fan in our bathroom for this technique.

Use pliers to hold wire extending out of leaf in the flame until it is black in color.

It may take a few tries to get it right, bubbling glue is OK.

If you have done it correctly the glue will be set and will not come off. Place leaf back into the flame if you see spot of wet glue.
When you are finished with the leaves wipe some of black soot off and then dry

brush color on each leaf. These leaves with last for years.

I used Viva Inka-Gold on my examples.

Years ago when Aleene did this technique she use Rub 'n Buff.

A gorgeous wreath or table decoration can be made using these leaves.

Tattered Leaves Die

Aleene’s Glue (Brown bottle)
This technique works with this glue.

22 gauge floral wire

Paint

Kraft paper or brown bag

Emergency candle with no scent

Sunday Papers with Jeanette....INK, Part One

INK, Part One

I can't be really technical with you about all of the inks on the

market today but I can share with you what I find interesting.

Recently, an article about ink in CardMaker Magazine caught my eye.

That is how I found out about a new type of ink that is on the market.

It is a hybrid ink. Uhm? How about you, have you ever heard ofHybrid Ink?

If not, here is what I found out about it.

But, first lets have a little primer onour more familiar inks.

Dye Based Ink

Used in most basic stamping. Makes anice sharp image and dries quickly.

Pigment Ink

Used in basic stamping but is thickerand slower to dry. Also, can be used for heat embossing.

Chalk Ink

This ink makes a softer image whenstamped. Great to use for distressing. Very quick drying.

Solvent Ink

Used for stampingon acetate, glass, metal and glossy cardstock. Really quick drying.

Watermark Ink

This ink iscolorless and when used leaves a tone on tone image when stamped ondarker carkstock. Dries quickly.

Embossing Ink

Thick,clear and slow drying ink used for heat embossing.

And, now we come to theHybrid Ink. The newest type of ink available. This ink is amix of dye based and pigment inks combined to replace the ink used inmost of the applications listed above. It does need to be heat seton a nonporous surface and it dries too quickly to use for heatembossing.

This hybrid ink ismanufactured by StewartSuperior and the product name is Palette.

The Palette Hybrid ink pad represents an innovation in stamping ink technology. It eliminates all the confusion over which ink to use for what surface - because it works on everything and is a non-solvent ink. It doesn’t smell bad , it’s nonflammable and it won’t immediately dry out. It dries instantly on paper and porous surfaces and requires a heat-set on glossy surfaces and fabrics.

Felonious Friday with Outlaw Gal - It's a Vintage Halloween

Cindi and I had a fun trip to Little Nashville, Indiana last Saturday and in one of the Scrapbook Stores I picked up some Vintage Halloween Collage Sheets. I was dying to use them when I got home.. I was so inspired from our trip that I went right to work.. No that's a Lie I took a nap first. LOL

anywho I created this card using one of the images.. First I found a Postcard Image online. Google Vintage Postcards... I really want to find a Postcard stamp if anyone knows of someone that makes one let me know. I printed this off and cut my image out of the collage sheet then I went to work creating my card. I Distressed the edges of the Designer Paper.

"Forever Fall" Collection.

This paper is to die for!! Absolutely George Us! and yes we carry it. It might be out of stock by now but I can get it.

anywho again I edged my papers with Distress Ink "Vintage Photo"

I also Distressed my image with Vintage Photo..

I added the Faux Postage Stamp to the Post Card.

This is a rubon and I love love them.. I use them in my Art Journaling a lot.

I then Stamped the Postcard with a Script Stamp and added the leaves stickers.

I had those from my stash. I hardly use stickers but really like these.

I used my Die the Mini Flourish from good ole Timmy Holtz. I adhered the paper to some grunge paper and used my Vagabond Machine.

Added the flower after I distressed it with some Vintage Photo ink.

Then popped two yellow bling blings on my creation..

and that's my Halloween Card I'm sending to my Sister this year..

The Dimension of my card is 10x 5.. in other words 5x5 card. I always want to know this when I see a card I like on the net and people never tell you..

Well I'm telling! LOL
