Technique Tuesday ~

Hi, Judy Cantrell here; this is something I made and only requires a few supplies; small canvas, Golden gesso, a little bit of acrylic paint, paint pen and a little bit of Tim Holtz tissue tape. You will find all supplies in club; see link below.

Paint canvas with two to three coats of gesso, apply a thin coat of watered down acrylic paint to color background including edges, when dry, draw three flowers, stems and leaves with black Copic or black paint pen. Paint flowers with acrylic paint.
When dry, use black pen to add print, and then add Tim's tissue tape.

Technique Tuesday ~ Altered Tile

Clean tile. In well vented area spray tile with Krylon matte finish, let dry. This process preps the surface for the alcohol inks to stick to.
Apply one or two drops of alcohol inks of your choice to felt applicator with a little blending solution and then apply on tile. The object is not to cover, but add a little color for a nice background. See photo above.
Stamp some of Tim's images from Classics #3 and #7 on tissue paper with StazOn black ink, it's important to use a solvent ink for this technique.
Let dry 30 minutes.
Set tile on wax paper, apply a thin film of Decou-page on back of tissue, turn over, apply to tile, smooth out wrinkles with your fingers. Set tile aside to dry at least 30 minutes.
(Don't have Decou-page, try matte gel medium.)
Tip: stamp another tissue, it's easy to apply addition portion by tearing and adding to tile with a little more decou-page if your tissue tears.
Sealing Tile:
Keeping tile on wax paper, apply two to three coats of Decou-page over tile
to seal and protect or
spray several coats of matte or glossy finish or
 brush on clear polyurethane.
( it's best to do the spraying in a well vented area or outdoors.)

Apply Inka-gold around edge of tile.
Cut cork to fit, apply tacky glue to cork, apply to tile to finish.

Finished project: 3 3/4"

December Tag

I've made a bunch of tags so far this month. I challenged myself to make a tag a day for 12 days after making 2 tags for 2012 December.

Today, I'm sharing one of those tags here on Crafting with OWSE.

I inked the music stamp on #8 manila tag with black ink and then sprayed it with perfect pearls. Set this aside to dry.
On trimmed manila, stamp Christmas Carols with archival black, immediately add clear embossing powder, pour off extra and heat set to glossy finish. Festive berries inked applicator was used to color piece. Sprinkle with water and heat dry.
Apply Christmas Carols to tag with glue n' seal. Use distress tool around outside of tag and then use inked applicator to color edges.
Ink trim with festive berries, wad up and heat set to dry. Add to top of tag, string gold bell with gold thread and then tie to trim.
