Felonious Friday with Outlaw Gal - Using Digital Stamps

Hey Everyone it's another Felonious Friday!! Hope everyone that is in the U.S. had a great Holiday Weekend last week. This week we are going to work with a Digital Stamp. Many of you might not know but I'm the Owner of Robyn's Fetish Digital Stamps and More.. I create Digital Stamps from Line Art. I wanted to use a Digital Stamp on an ATC Card but I didn't want to just print it out, color it and then Fussy Cut it and pop dot it to my Card. I wanted it on the ATC Card just as if I stamped it right on..

Is this possible you ask?

Yuppers!!

What I did is brought up my Paint Program - Paint Shop Pro and sized the Digital Stamp to just under 2 1/2 inches wide. Then I put a Blank ATC Card into my printer and adjusted it so it had a custom size to print. I have a Canon printer and it will print any size I want. I adjusted it to print out a 3/12 by 2 1/2 sized paper. With the ATC card in the printer I printed out the Digital Stamp!

Perfecto! I now had my Digital Stamp right on my Blank ATC Card. Okay so now what? I had to do my background... but I didn't want to go over my stamp. I created a mask. First I printed off my Digital Stamp again using the same proportions but instead of using paper I cut a mask sheet to the size of an ATC Card and placed that in the printer. It printed out the Digital Stamp just perfect. I cut it out and then adhered this onto my ATC Card.

I then took my Distress Stain - Spiced Marmalade and used it all over the card. Going over the mask but not the digital stamped image. After that dried I grabbed a Script Stamp, some VersaMark Embossing Ink and some Black Embossing Powder. Inking up my stamp with the Versamark and then stamped, and poured the embossing powder on.

At this point I took the mask off the ATC Card... You don't want to leave this on .. duh!! I have and have had a mess of melted mask or a mask that get's stuck on the card and your left with a ripped area.. Believe you me I have forgotten over and over again to take that mask off and had to start all over. Throwing the card across the room and screaming out some not so nice words!! so remember to take your mask off!! ROFL!!

Then heat emboss your card. see what I mean the heat will melt the mask or make it so sticky it sticks to the area and then rips the paper and then and then and then!! LMAO!!

Okay I'm done ranting now..

I used "Black Soot" Distress Ink and with my Blending tool blended the Black soot ink around the edge of the card.

Okay now I want to color my scary pumpkin.. I decided to use Copic Markers for this but anything can be used. Gel Pens, Prisma Color Pencils , Water Color Pencils. Just anything you want to color the pumpkin with. I didn't blend with my Copics this time. I just used the Orange, Black and a lighter orange for inside the pumpkin.

(By the way OWSE happens to have the best price for Copics on the net.

I am not allowed to advertise the price but check it out and do a google search
and you will see we have a Gonga of a Price!!)

Once I was done coloring I needed some sparkle I thought.. I grabbed some black glitter and this fabulous adhesive I use especially when I using fine glitter. The adhesive is made by the Art Glitter company. It has a pointy tip on it so you can really get detailed . I have used this glitter adhesive on these butterfly stamps I have and it works so good you can put layers of different color glitter onto your stamps and have definition between each color of glitter. It's just wonderful stuff!! I have tried so many different adhesives for glitter work and this one is the best!!

Using the adhesive I covered the hat and then with a spoon I spooned the Black Glitter on..

Okay so now it has glitter and I was a Happy Camper.. I completed my card and used my digital Stamp like I would have a regular stamp.. wooohooo!!

As A gift to all our readers I'm giving you this Digital Stamp

If you use it on a creation using the Technique I did

Technique Tuesday with Embossed Frame Technique

Welcome to Technique Tuesday!
By Judy Cantrell

Embossed Frame Technique

Supplies:

Card stock

Embossing Folder

Sizzix Scallop Oval Frame

Die Cutting Machine

Paper Trimmer

Rubber Stamps

Distress Inks

Blue tape

Adhesive
Cardboard or chipboard from
Cereal and snack boxes
This idea came about when I wanted

an embossed design to frame a stamped image.

This is one

of those techniques you can use what you have on hand.

The two pieces top left: chipboard from snack boxes, top right embossed card front. [see close-up below] Bottom left one cutting pad, die and embossing folder. Bottom right is my chipboard die cut with blue tape.

Instructions:
1.        Use paper trimmer to cut a piece of white card stock 4” x 5 1/4.” Set aside.
2.        Die cut 3 frames with thin chipboard. Stack and glue them together. Place something heavy on the die cut frame and set aside to dry. When dry mine were  1/16” thick.
3.        Place your white card stock inside an embossing folder.
4.        Go near a window or door with the embossing folders, chipboard frame and two pieces of tape.
5.        Hold the embossing folder with the card stock inside up to the light with the die-cut frame on back side of the embossing folder.
6.        You are doing this to center the frame stack in the center of white card stock. Tape the frame to the back of the embossing folder
7.         Place solo platform down if using your Vagabond, one or two pieces of chipboard, the die-cut chipboard frame taped to embossing folder, then one cutting pad.

Note: use only one cutting pad with this technique.

If using your Cuttlebug do a sandwich in this order:

A plate, one or two pieces of chipboard, die cut frame taped to embossing folder with card stock inside and B cutting plate.

8.        Run this through your die cutting machine.

9.        You should have a border around the paper with a blank inside perfect for a stamped image.

10.   Stamp an image in center of card stock, embellish and then adhere to finished card.

This is the card I finished on Labor Day 2011 using this technique.

Let’s see what you can do with these instructions.
I would love to hear from you if you enjoy seeing these techniques.

See you next week for another Technique Tuesday!

using a Cool Tim Holtz Technique..

and some new Stamps Sets I got from none other

then OWSE

By the way has anyone started doing any Halloween Projects?

I'm going to start doing some cards for my Sisters kids

no there not little anymore..

they have babies now themselves

Real Little Ones

and my Neiece is pregnant again.

The sad thing is I'm stuck here in Indianapolis and never get to see them but

I sure do like snagging pictures of the babies off of Facebook and Scrapping them

well anywho here is a Fun Tag I created for

All Hollows Eve ( I love to call it that!) LOL

(product list on the bottom of this post)

To Create this Tag

I put White Cap Paint Dabber all over My Flourish Stamp

and Stamped it

Then I took two Distress Inks

Peeled Paint and Spiced Marmalade

and blended the two into the tag

Then I took a Paper Towel and spritzed it with a Mini Mister

I got it pretty wet but not saturated

Then I wiped the color off the Flourish areas

The Paint dabber acts as a resist..

I edged the Tag with Forest Moss Distress Ink

it goes so good with

Peeled Paint as a shadow

and Voila one Background!!

Pretty Cool huh

You can find more Tim Holtz Techniques Here

Once my background was done I got to stamping on it..

I used my Bird Stamp once again from Mr. Tim Holtz

Love that Man!!

Then I used my new Halloween Set from

Craft Lounge.

I like Craft Lounge's Stamps

They are deeply etched and come in a variety of some humorous stamps.

Some day I'll show you my Beach one.

It's a gal not too skinny with graying hair like me

she has some cool saying like

"Do I look Fat in this"

meaning her swimsuit..

Now don't we all say that expecting to hear "No you don't" and if we don't hear that
boy do we start to pout!!

ROFL!

okay I'm off the beaten track now.

Back to this piece

Using this Halloween Stamp set

I stamped the Black Cat

then the Graveyard twice

once offset to the right so it went off the edge.

Then I cut out my Focal Point Images

One I found on the Internet

the house and a tiny little ghost in the background

I cut this into a circle

I had the Gal Image from when I used to buy tubes because I was

a Paint Shop Pro Addict making Signature Tags..

The Artist that created this gal is Keith Garvey

Boy is this man talented creating Beautiful Woman

Some day I'll show off some of my Siggy tags I use to make.

I got heavy into Animation and I taught Paint Shop Pro for a bit..

but seems to be in another life time

So Once I finished cutting out the gal I printed off I positioned her to

give the illusion that she was floating in the air..

good little cute Witch!! LOL

I added some Fibers and my Tag was done

Quick and Easy!!

Wednesday Women

Welcome to Wednesday Women!
Featuring a Guest Designer with her project and tutorial.

Our first featured artist is Gurkiss; her tutorial comes all the way from Sweden.

Gurkiss this is your Guest Artist logo to add to your blog

Since 2004 she has been constantly learning new things and working with new materials. Gurkiss is a 28 yr. old, she has two daughters, a wonderful partner and four cats.
She says; Scrapping is peace and harmony for my soul.
Gurkiss has a passion for scrapping, sewing and wood projects.
She is also a member of "I did it Creations" Design Team.

This is Gurkiss fabulous Book Box!

Products used in this tutorial:

    Box
                                                                             Card Stock

   Cardboard
    Bone Folder
   Acrylic Paint

Aluminum Foil/ Aluminum Foil Tape

Things to decorate

US approx. measurements 2 pieces 4” x 6”with center piece 1  1/8” x 6”

Gurkiss says to trim the cardboard to these measurements.
She cut card stock slightly larger than cardboard.
She quotes that the color of cardstock plays no role because it will be covered.
Glue card stock to cardboard leaving an even amount of space as shown in photo.

Cut corners, fold edges in and glue.

Front cover

Gurkiss says; one need not think about colors or anything like that.
She covered the book cover with aluminum tape and presses down with a bone folder.  Aluminum tape was broken a little bit around the letters but it does not matter because it is not visible.

Paint with acrylic paint or rustic color. Dab on paint of your choice. If you want more color paint again and dab with paper towels.

It will look like this when finished.

She adds a box; then applies to inside of cover.

Sunday Papers with Jeanette

Welcome to the first edition of my
Sunday Papers with Jeanette.
I love curling up in my comfy chair with a
fresh cup of coffee and the Sunday newspaper.
I'm also be addicted to designer papers.  I have
some that I haven't even used.  But, use them or not, I
love them.

What I'm going to show you today is one of my favorite
ways to use designer paper.

Stamps Not Required

I'm using paper from Graphic 45
Steampunk Debutante
Turns out I didn't use the floral.
But, wait I used more things.

See the small empty area?  That is where I worked on my piece.
First, I come up with a design.
Then I gathered up every thing that I might use.
Some gets used...some doesn't.
I hate to jump up and down once I get started.

I started by cutting around the large face on one of the sheets
of paper.  Next came smaller versions of the same face.
I found an arrangement that pleased me.  I eventually
added these with pop dots for a little dimension.
Next I put together lace, feathers and a butterfly pin
for the corner embellishment.
The lace I was using turned out to be too white.  I tinted it
by dunking it in coffee for a few minutes.  It is a much better
color now.  The sprockets or gears, or whatever they're called,
have amber acrylic dots in the center of each.  There are
smaller ones added on the base piece of designer paper.
Oh, you want to see the finished piece.  OK,
here you go....I call it
Softer Side of Steampunk.

Here is another that I did quite some time ago.
This one I call Vintage Closet.

I started with ivory card stock to make the card.
I added all of my cut pieces from the designer
paper to a panel of ivory card stock.
Embellished with flowers, lace and pearls.
The panel is outlined with gold gel pen.

Felonious Friday with Outlaw Gal

Hey Everyone it's Outlaw Gal here better known as Robyn one of the owners of Outlaw Women Scrapbook Emporium.. I was given this name Outlaw Gal many years ago when I first started to use a computer. I'm going to go back to it.. It's fit me!! LOL

Well it's Friday and I'm going to showcase one of my Pieces for you and give a little tutorial.. Why is it Felonious Friday you ask? Beacause it's a Crime that I don't and you don't have every product on the market that we all want!! That we are obsessed and addicted to our Art and even though that's not a crime it should be!! why you ask because it feels too good when we are making art!! anything that feels that good should be a crime!! ROFL!!

Okay on with the showcase..

I created this piece with Wendy Vecchi in mind. She has some wonderful stamps and I am in love with her Art Parts. I also just got her Book "Make Art" #2 and am loving all the samples that are in it with complete instructions. We have #3 for sale at OWSE, #2 is sold out.

The Supply List for this Piece is on the bottom of this Tutorial

I started off with a plain #8 Tag Manila

I got my Background stamp out from Tim Holtz's

Papillion

Using Versamark I inked up the stamp..

I tend to use a lot of ink.. Heavy Handed Gal I am I am

Once It was stamped I poured some Clear Embossing Powder on it

then Heat Embossed..

Okay let cool and have a swig of Ice Tea

I put it in me trusty misting box

and took out my

Vintage Photo Distress Stain.. not ink but Stain

and went over key areas of the stamping with it.. Once that was done

I used Glimmer Mist and sprayed two different blues..

I kept away at first from the brown area's

I wasn't heavy handed with this as I knew I didn't want it to run too much

Yet!

but once I had my colors on it I dabbed some more brown in the same brown area's

sprayed more glimmer mist and let it run all over the place!!

Then I went downstairs to clean the house.

why because you can't heat set this.. can't can't can't.. it won't come out right..

what you need to do is let it air dry really good.

The ink and the glimmer mist act as a resist on the embossing and come out

sooooo cool!!

so I cleaned the house and took the dogs out and waited

once it was dry I said to myself

self what cha want to do now??

ahhhhh a Wendy Vecchi Art Part would look cool!!

I used her "Florals"

These come unpainted just really neat paperboard surfaces.

I thought to meself again. should I gesso this first since I want to paint it with

Acrylics.

The answer is yes , you should. because I tried without and it didn't look good

So I gesso'd away..

wait for that to dry and I painted the flower part with acrylic paints

and sprayed the stem with some Glimmer Mist.. Keeping the two separate wasn't

fun. I put a cloth over the dried flower petal part and tried not to let any get in.

It looked unfinished when it was all dry

and I'm such a glitzy gal I wanted some sparkle.

Grabbing my Diamond Dust, Versa Mark, Stamp n Bond and my heat gun

I went to town using these products.

First you schmutz the Versa Mark all over, then pour Stamp N Bond on it

Heat this as if you were embossing..

hurry up and pour some of that Diamond Dust on it and let cool

Voila it sparkles soooooo good!!

I stamped the little Sentiment from a Wendy Vecchi stamp

from the set

Natures Art

Then I took a Fragment from Tim Holtz

and did his wonderful Technique of using packing tape and creating

a transfer.. The bird and background were from scraps I had..

Want to know how to do this Technique click here..

He will tell you how to work with Fragments.

He is just too Cool!!

anywho I got that done and put it all together with some hot glue, a brad and pop dots
for the sentiment..

of coarse I had to add some cool fibers..

I'm all done!!

What I wanted to show you really was this background technique and working with

Diamond Dust..

Here is a close up picture of the Flower

I love using Diamond Dust on the edge of tags and ATC cards.

Just take some glue and go around the edge with a thin paint brush and sprinkle the
Diamond Dust on and you got it down town!!

Okay that's it for me I have to go feed me dogs

I have two St. Bernards and a Mutt name Jake..

OHHHH I forgot!!

I was told not to do any challenges or contests!! right!!

WRONG!!

I tell ya what if anyone does this background technique or uses Diamond Dust on a piece

leaves a comment with your blog link

I will pick one person to win a prize!!

shhhhh don't tell Jeanette or Sharon!

One entry will be picked at Random..

You have one week until my next Felonious Friday

to get this done..

Signing off now
