Love is in the air-Mixed Media

Valentine's Day is right around the corner.  I made this tag to go onto a gift bag.

 

I wanted to use a large stamp I had.  Choose a designer paper that is neutral.  I stamped all over a 12x12 page with versa mark and then heat embossed the image with red embossing powder.

 

Then I cut a size to fit a card, a couple of tag sizes.  You can choose what you want to use it for-even a layout-it's your choice.

 

 

 The sentiment I simply typed up on my computer and printed and matted on black card stock.

 I hand drew a heart out of some old cardboard I took out of a frame.  Using my gelatos, I scribbled the color on it, used my finger to smudge until it was well blended.  I did ink the edges with walnut distress stain.

Life Moments

It's been a while since I've stamped this cute little rubber stamp images by Julie Nutting.
I used two of Tim's strip dies, one of Tim's rubber stamp and the background with cut-outs from Prima 6x6" paper pads. Distress markers were used to color stamped image, scrapbook paper dress from my stash. Julie Nutting image was stamped on 140 lb watercolor paper using Archival black ink.
When you purchase a Julie Nutting stamp; its mounted on a tag, I use this as a template to make other tags with heavy card stock.
Finished tag is: 4"x 8.5"

Mixed Media Tag

Everyone is loving mixed media. What does that really mean? You can use anything you want!

 

I started with a Prima tag, Liquitex modeling paste and a clock stencil.  Allow to dry before continuing.

 I went thru my stash and dug up some chipboard flowers, a heart I had left over from another project and some buttons.  Dug thru my alphabet letters and found these thickers and spelled adore.  I glued them on with Scotch Adhesive glue and E6000 (on the two larger buttons)

I sprayed several inks alternating with water to allow it to drip and run.  (we have new Lindy's Stamp Gang spray inks in the shop!!)

 

Using my Traditions liner paint brush, I took dark brown paint and went around each item (water it down) and it gives a good shadow.

 

Using my finger and some Rub and Buff-I started hitting the higher areas.

My finished tag!  GORGEOUS!

Here's a close up of all the textures.  I put some heart bling in various places.

I made this tag using Tim's instructions and then changed it a bit using another embossing folder and darker background. All TH supplies except some of the hardware gears and sprockets.

Mixed Media Canvas with photos

Happy New Year!!

Want to share a canvas I did using modeling paste and gelatos.

 I prime the canvas with thin layer of gesso before I start.  Mixed glue ink into my Liquitex Modeling paste before smearing it thru my brick stencil using a palette knife. Allow to dry.

 I rubbed 3 different colored gelatos onto the canvas in the bare spots. 

 With a damp paint brush, I smeared them out and around the bricks.

 Spritzed the whole canvas with water-use as little or as much as you want.  Pick the canvas up and allow the colors to run together.

 To get the mottled look-I started drying with the heat tool and picking up really wet areas with a paper towel.

 I highlighted the bricks with the dark grey gelato and for the lighter areas a white pitt pen.

 I spritzed the middle area with brown smooch.

 Using MME DP and layered my pictures and added some chipboard accents.

Here's the finished wall hanging.  The sentiments were printed on my computer.
